How does a Bardot Full Lips treatment proceed?

  • Before we begin, we take the time to discuss everything thoroughly. It is crucial that we understand your needs and work with you to determine which treatment is most appropriate.
  • Not sure what you want? Feel free to take a look at our before and after photos or visit our Instagram page.
  • After we choose the color together and draw the lip contour, we apply a special surgical anesthetic gel. Within minutes you will no longer have any feeling in your lips, allowing you to undergo the treatment comfortably.
  • We begin treatment only when the lips are properly numbed.
  • The actual pigmentation takes about 45 minutes, but keep in mind that you will be there for an average of an hour and a half total, from entry to exit.
  • Immediately after treatment, a cold pack is applied to the lips to reduce swelling more quickly. Keep in mind that swelling may persist until the next day, with lips sometimes being up to twice as thick. You will receive detailed aftercare instructions, both verbally and in writing.

Important Information for Booking Lip Pigmentation

  • If you have ever had cold sores , you should take Aciclovir pills for 4 days before and 4 days after treatment, 3 times a day, 200 mg per dose. Please consult your doctor about this.
  • Also get the aftercare ointment from your pharmacist: Terramycin eye ointment (right, eye ointment for lips!), available without a prescription.
  • The lips may be up to 2x thick the day itself due to swelling, fortunately this is gone the day afterwards
  • The color of the lips will be quite intense for the first 3 days before becoming lighter and lighter. With the lips, you have to wait at least 3 weeks for the result.
  • Book your Touch-up treatment early because for the lips it is recommended!

NEVER book a PMU treatment when you are pregnant or taking Roaccutane! If you are taking Roaccutane, you must have already stopped for 6 months before scheduling a PMU treatment.

Who is a Bardot Full Lips treatment suitable for?

  • Er moet een basis zijn: het is onmogelijk om van bijna “geen” lip naar full lips te gaan in een paar behandelingen, indien je “bijna geen” eigen lippen hebt dan is het aangeraden om eerst met lip fillers te beginnen.
  • Het hyaluronzuur in de filler zorgt er immers voor dat jouw eigen lip zelf meer volume zal aanmaken, maar dit proces heeft tijd nodig.
  • Start met het plaatsen van fillers voor volume en laat daarna onze lip techniek zetten

Nazorg Bardot Full Lips

Immediately after treatment

  • Dab the lips several times during the day with a clammy cotton ball (are in your goodie bag)
  • Terramycin eye ointment
  • No smoking (24h)
  • Do not drink hot beverages
  • If suffering from swelling you may use an ice pack

As of tomorrow

  • Do not fiddle with sheets
  • 2 days of no kissing or other contact
  • 2 days of drinking with a straw
  • 2 days of no exercise (sweat is not good for pigment encapsulation)
  • Be careful with salty foods
  • During the healing process lubricate enough Terramycin ointment: 3x a day and in between also lubricate enough that Vaseline! Keep this up for at least 10 days.
  • 1 week no sauna, steam bath, swimming pool, makeup on lips
  • 2 weeks no tanning bed/sun
  • Suffering from fever blisters? Continue Aciclovir for another 4 days (preferably 800 mg daily)

Frequently asked questions about Bardot Full Lips

When will I see the results of my lip pigmentation?

The swelling will be mostly gone the day after, however, you will have to wait a little longer for the results. The lips need more time to heal. After 1 week it will look like a lot of color has disappeared, only to reappear at week 3. You will only see the real result after 4 weeks.

Is a touch up indicated for lip pigmentation?

With the lip treatment, a Touch-Up is recommended because lips take up color more difficult than e.g. eyes and eyebrows.

How long will the results of my lip pigmentation last?

The final result will stay for an average of 3 years.

Can a Schisis lip be treated with lip pigmentation?

Schisis lip can be perfectly aestheticized with the right lip shape and color. Don't let schisis or asymmetrical lips affect your self-confidence! Everything is first discussed and drawn out in detail beforehand, only after your approval we insert the pigments into the lip. Does lip pigmentation treatment hurt?

What will I look like after the treatment?

Immediately after the treatment, the color intensity will be up to 2 times darker than the desired result. This is partly due to the slight swelling and partly due to the presence of pigment on the epidermis. This will remain for about 3 days to 1 week.

Can I wear makeup after the treatment?

Immediately after the treatment, it is better not to wear makeup in order to achieve proper wound healing.

How quickly will it heal?

The superficial skin layers will heal within 3 days. The deeper layers between 10 and 14 days. The pigment must be encapsulated by the macrophages of the body this process takes time, hence a follow-up appointment will always take place between 4 and 6 weeks.

How does the post-treatment process work?

In view of the pigmentation process, you will be given an ointment to apply 4 times a day for 4 days. After 3 days a film or scab will form over the pigmentation area (do not pull it off, it will fall off by itself). Peeling off crusts or films will result in pigment loss. The first 7 days at the treatment site avoid make-up, soap, water and rubbing in the eyes. After 1 week it may seem that the pigment is greatly weakened, this is a normal process only after the third week you will really see the result of the pigmentation.

What should I consider after treatment?

Can I get an MRI scan after treatment?

Please notify your treating physician about your Semi-PMU before having your MRI. It is important for the doctor to know where and when you underwent the Semi-PMU. Semi-PMU will not prevent you from undergoing your MRI scan.

Will the color be dark?

Be prepared that after pigmentation, the color is going to be up to 2x darker than the final result. This will fade and lighten as the skin will heal. This will take about 10 days.

What will my lips look like immediately after treatment?

After treatment, the lips will be somewhat swollen and red. 2 to 5 days after treatment, you may still experience some sensitivity, tightness and dryness of the lips.

What should I avoid after treatment?

For lip treatment, avoid salty and spicy foods until the lips are healed (7 days). For the first 2 days after treatment, it is best to drink with a straw.

What is the healing process like?

After 3 days, the swelling will be complete. And after 1 week, the color will already be sharply reduced on the lips. Around the 2nd week, the color may go away completely. It will come back fully healed around 5 weeks. Hence, the touch-up will take place around the 6th week.

I have Herpes Simplex (fever blisters).

Take your medication through 4 days after treatment, prescriptions are available through our Clinic. This will prevent a flare-up of Herpes Simplex and allow the pigment to heal nicely in the lips. If not, it will be at the expense of the result and multiple side effects will be required.

Does the treatment hurt?

Thanks to the extremely fine needles and the latest equipment on the market, this treatment is very comfortable. A strong anesthetic ointment will be applied to the treatment area for 10 minutes to provide you with the necessary comfort. There is absolutely no need to be afraid of pain. Not with these techniques! Eyebrow treatment feels like tweezing. Eye-liner can at most be a bit irritating to the eyes towards the end of the treatment. Lips are experienced as a comfortable treatment.

How long will the treatment take?

You should count on 1.5 hours per treatment. This covers the anesthesia time, design placement and the pigmentation itself.

How many weeks are there between the first and second treatment?

Often one treatment is sufficient. We leave 6 weeks between the treatment and any touch-up because then optimal wound healing has taken place. Sometimes it looks like the pigment is gone (after 1 week) this will reappear in the third week.

Does the lip treatment hurt?

The numbing ointment will allow you to undergo the treatment comfortably. Definitely do not drink alcohol/coffee or tea before the treatment.

What do I best do before the lip treatment?

Do I bring my favorite lip color? If your goal is to have your favorite color permanently on your lips, be sure to bring your lipstick. That way we can put together a color like your favorite lipstick.

I have a fever blister on my lip the day of treatment

The fever blisters must be completely healed before undergoing treatment. In no case will the treatment be able to continue, please notify in time!

Vanaf wanneer mag ik mijn pmu / tattoo laten weglaseren als ik niet tevreden ben van het resultaat?

If you are not satisfied with your new tattoo or PMU, you may only have it lasered away after 4 to 6 months
