Medical peelings
Unfortunately, you do not obtain radiant skin right away. The skin is a living organ that is constantly trying to return to its original state. For best results, it is recommended to repeat the treatment several times, so that the optimal result is maintained as long as possible. The ideal frequency is every 4 months so that the skin continuously remains at its best.

What is a chemical or medical peel?
A chemical peel accelerates the skin's rejuvenation process. Through controlled use of exfoliating agents (the peels), it penetrates several layers of skin. The peeling removes external layers of skin (depending on the acidity and soaking time, the depth can be determined).

To determine the appropriate medical peel, it is advisable to first schedule a consultation with Nurse Karen. The choice of medical peel is tailored to personal factors such as skin thickness, skin type and depth of pigment in the skin.
What is the purpose of a chemical peel?
- It stimulates the production of collagen, elastin and glycosaminoglycan, which improves the physiological and mechanical properties of these tissues.
- Exfoliation promotes accelerated cell renewal and brings active substances into different layers of the skin.
- The depth of exfoliation in the skin depends on the acidity or pH level.
- There are various percentages in acidity; only peels with a pH lower than 1.5 are considered medical peels.
- These should only be performed by physicians or under the supervision of a physician, such as a nurse.

How does a medical peel proceed?
After the preparation, we will proceed to the peeling. Our skin expert at Sarasin Beauty will cleanse your skin before we begin the peeling.
After the treatment, the skin may be red and slightly swollen. Please note that for the first few days after treatment:
- Not allowed in the sun (avoid sun/tanning beds)
- should not apply makeup to the face
- Allow your skin time and space to adjust and recover from peeling
What does an exfoliation do in general?
- Cleanses and oxygenates the skin, leaving it hydrated and free of impurities
- Reduces pores, improves skin texture and increases epidermal thickness
- Combats the signs of skin aging, softens wrinkles and firms the skin
- Makes skin tone more even
- Lightens and attenuates pigment spots, leading to a depigmenting effect
- Reduces acne and superficial scars

Does the skin need to be prepared for a medical peel first?
- We strongly recommend preparing your skin at least 3 weeks prior to a medical peel.
- Proper preparation ensures better tolerance of the peel during treatment, shorter recovery time and significantly improved final results.
- At Sarasin Clinic, we never perform peels without preparing the skin first.
If you make an appointment for a medical peel, you should first undergo a consultation where preparation is also discussed and explained.
Aftercare for medical peels
- Stop using your own day and night creams, as they often contain irritants, such as perfumes and acids, which can cause inflammatory reactions.
- Do not use skincare products with active ingredients, parabens and perfume for 5 days (from day 6, mineral makeup is allowed).
- Avoid sun, tanning bed, hammam and sauna for 4 weeks (skin is more sensitive and vulnerable to sunlight after peeling).
- Exercise or swimming is not allowed for 48 hours after treatment.
- Use sunscreen (SPF50).
- Avoid scratching peels or scabs to prevent scarring.
- Hydrate the skin as needed.
- No laser hair removal in the treated area for 2 months after peeling.
- From the first peeling session until two weeks after the last session, it is not recommended to use peels or scrubs at home.
