What is Lip Pigmentation?

While permanent makeup of the past was harsh and unnatural, pigmentation is a gentle and very natural form of semi permanent makeup.

Currently, Full Lip Pigmentation is becoming a real hype both for the young audience and for the more mature woman. We are not going to place visual contours in the lips, but gentle techniques that will make your lips more present in your face without making them stand out.

1. Baby Lips

Baby Lips is the most gentle form of pigmentation.

Ideal for :

2. Powder Lips

2. Bardot Lips

Bardot Lips: everyone knows the style icon Brigitte Bardot, our Bardot Lips are named after her. It is therefore a full lip treatment but with that extra something more.

Women who apply lipstick on a daily basis or desire a pronounced result are going to be comfortable with this technique.

How does treatment work?

Discuss and draw out

Everything is discussed in detail before we start. It is important that we know your wishes and in consultation with you we choose the most appropriate treatment.

Option anesthesia

Once we have chosen the color together and outlined the lips, we will apply our surgical numbing gel. After a few minutes, you will no longer have any feeling in the lips so you can undergo the treatment in complete comfort.

Only when the lips are properly anesthetized do we begin the treatment.

Pigmenting

The pigmentation itself takes about 45 min, but keep in mind that from coming in to going out you will spend an average of 1h30.

After treatment

After the treatment, you will get a coldpack on your lips so that the swelling is gone faster. Keep in mind that the swelling may last until the day after. The lips can sometimes be up to twice as thick because of the swelling. All aftercare instructions are clearly explained and you will be given everything on paper.

What to be sure of when booking lip pigmentation

Have you ever had a fever blister? If yes, you should take Aciclovir pills 4 days before to 4 days after your treatment. 3 x 200 mg per day. You can ask your doctor for a prescription for this.

You should also get the aftercare ointment from your pharmacist: Terramycin eye ointment (indeed eye ointment for lips) this is available without a prescription.

When will you see the results?

  • The swelling will be mostly gone the day after, however, you will have to wait a little longer for the results. The lips need more time to heal. After 1 week it will look like a lot of color has disappeared, only to reappear at week 3. You will only see the real result after 4 weeks.
  • With the lip treatment, however, a Touch-Up is recommended, as lips take on color a bit more difficult than, say, eyes and eyebrows.
  • The final result will stay for an average of 3 years.

Good to Know

  • IMPORTANT: If you have ever had a fever blister before then you should take (Aciclovir 200 mg 3x a day) 4 days BEFORE treatment and 4 days AFTER treatment. So that you do not get a flare-up after our treatment, otherwise you will not get the desired result. (You will get a prescription from us on the day of your treatment, you can bring it in to your pharmacist afterwards)
  • The lips can be up to 2 so thick on the day due to swelling fortunately this is gone by the day afterwards
  • The color of the lips will be quite intense for the first 3 days before becoming lighter and lighter. For the lips, you have to wait at least 3 weeks for the result. Book your touch-up treatment in time, because it is recommended for the lips.
  • Anesthetic prick is definitely recommended with this treatment
  • Duration of treatment 1.5 hours
  • We also do plenty of pigmentation treatments in the summer

Aftercare for Lip Pigmentation

Immediately after treatment

  • Dab the lips several times during the day with a clammy cotton ball (are in your goodie bag)
  • Terramycin eye ointment
  • No smoking (24h)
  • Do not drink hot beverages
  • If suffering from swelling you may use an ice pack

As of tomorrow

  • Do not fiddle with sheets
  • 2 days of no kissing or other contact
  • 2 days of drinking with a straw
  • 2 days of no exercise (sweat is not good for pigment encapsulation)
  • Be careful with salty foods
  • During the healing process lubricate enough Terramycin ointment: 3x a day and in between also lubricate enough that Vaseline! Keep this up for at least 10 days.
  • 1 week no sauna, steam bath, swimming pool, makeup on lips
  • 2 weeks no tanning bed/sun
  • Suffering from fever blisters? Continue Aciclovir for another 4 days (preferably 800 mg daily)

When will I see the results of my lip pigmentation?

Is a touch up indicated for lip pigmentation?

Can a Schisis lip be treated with lip pigmentation?

Schisis lip can be perfectly aestheticized with the right lip shape and color. Don't let schisis or asymmetrical lips affect your self-confidence! Everything is first discussed and drawn out in detail beforehand, only after your approval we insert the pigments into the lip. Does lip pigmentation treatment hurt?

We work with local anesthetic ointment and gel: NO pain and no uncomfortable feeling thanks to our TOP anesthetic ointment and gel!

What will I look like after the treatment?

Immediately after the treatment, the color intensity will be up to 2 times darker than the desired result. This is partly due to the slight swelling and partly due to the presence of pigment on the epidermis. This will remain for about 3 days to 1 week.

Can I wear makeup after the treatment?

Immediately after the treatment, it is better not to wear makeup in order to achieve proper wound healing.

How quickly will it heal?

The superficial skin layers will heal within 3 days. The deeper layers between 10 and 14 days. The pigment must be encapsulated by the macrophages of the body this process takes time, hence a follow-up appointment will always take place between 4 and 6 weeks.

How does the post-treatment process work?

In view of the pigmentation process, you will be given an ointment to apply 4 times a day for 4 days. After 3 days a film or scab will form over the pigmentation area (do not pull it off, it will fall off by itself). Peeling off crusts or films will result in pigment loss. The first 7 days at the treatment site avoid make-up, soap, water and rubbing in the eyes. After 1 week it may seem that the pigment is greatly weakened, this is a normal process only after the third week you will really see the result of the pigmentation.

What should I consider after treatment?

Can I get an MRI scan after treatment?

Please notify your treating physician about your Semi-PMU before having your MRI. It is important for the doctor to know where and when you underwent the Semi-PMU. Semi-PMU will not prevent you from undergoing your MRI scan.

Will the color be dark?

Be prepared that after pigmentation, the color is going to be up to 2x darker than the final result. This will fade and lighten as the skin will heal. This will take about 10 days.

What will my lips look like immediately after treatment?

After treatment, the lips will be somewhat swollen and red. 2 to 5 days after treatment, you may still experience some sensitivity, tightness and dryness of the lips.

What should I avoid after treatment?

For lip treatment, avoid salty and spicy foods until the lips are healed (7 days). For the first 2 days after treatment, it is best to drink with a straw.

What is the healing process like?

After 3 days, the swelling will be complete. And after 1 week, the color will already be sharply reduced on the lips. Around the 2nd week, the color may go away completely. It will come back fully healed around 5 weeks. Hence, the touch-up will take place around the 6th week.

I have Herpes Simplex (fever blisters).

Take your medication through 4 days after treatment, prescriptions are available through our Clinic. This will prevent a flare-up of Herpes Simplex and allow the pigment to heal nicely in the lips. If not, it will be at the expense of the result and multiple side effects will be required.

Does the treatment hurt?

Thanks to the extremely fine needles and the latest equipment on the market, this treatment is very comfortable. A strong anesthetic ointment will be applied to the treatment area for 10 minutes to provide you with the necessary comfort. There is absolutely no need to be afraid of pain. Not with these techniques! Eyebrow treatment feels like tweezing. Eye-liner can at most be a bit irritating to the eyes towards the end of the treatment. Lips are experienced as a comfortable treatment.

How long will the treatment take?

You should count on 1.5 hours per treatment. This covers the anesthesia time, design placement and the pigmentation itself.

How many weeks are there between the first and second treatment?

Often one treatment is sufficient. We leave 6 weeks between the treatment and any touch-up because then optimal wound healing has taken place. Sometimes it looks like the pigment is gone (after 1 week) this will reappear in the third week.

Does the lip treatment hurt?

The numbing ointment will allow you to undergo the treatment comfortably. Definitely do not drink alcohol/coffee or tea before the treatment.

What do I best do before the lip treatment?

Do I bring my favorite lip color? If your goal is to have your favorite color permanently on your lips, be sure to bring your lipstick. That way we can put together a color like your favorite lipstick.

I have a fever blister on my lip the day of treatment

The fever blisters must be completely healed before undergoing treatment. In no case will the treatment be able to continue, please notify in time!
