Local anesthesia for Semi Permanent Make Up

Local anesthesia is used only for lip pigmentation, microblading and aesthetic nipple pigmentation.

What is local anesthesia anyway?

And above all, what is the added value of this?

Local anesthesia is not a treatment per se, but an optional addition to lip, brow or nipple pigmentation (both aesthetic and reconstructive). With a small prick, an anesthetic is injected, making the treatment pain-free. Think of it as a little prick at the dentist. The prick is briefly uncomfortable, but it doesn't really hurt.

Its result, is a pain-free treatment of, for example, darkening of light nipples, nipple reconstruction after breast cancer or in microblading and lip pigmentation.

The effect of local anesthesia

We definitely recommend taking a local anesthetic with the above treatments. Not having any pain during the treatment is very pleasant anyway, but it also increases the effect of the treatment. This is because the anesthetic contains adrenaline. This makes the wound bleed less
allowing the pigment to be better absorbed into the skin. Think of it as a scratch where pigment is put in, the moment it starts to bleed some of the pigment runs out again. That's a waste! With local anesthesia the pigment stays in place much better.
In addition, because you feel no pain, you lie nice and still, which makes it easier for the practitioner to work accurately.
After one hour the anesthesia subsides and you start to feel the sensation again.

The treatment also lasts one hour, so once the treatment is finished, the feeling also returns.

Risks

Actually, there are no risks in using local anesthesia. It has been used worldwide for a long time and is a real household name. There is minimal to no chance of an allergic reaction, unless of course you are allergic to one of the ingredients of the anesthetic (e.g. lidocaine, adrenaline,...). Therefore, it is always wise to indicate this well in advance.
