Is semi permanent eyeliner placement painful?

Among semi permanent makeup or dermatopigmentation treatments, permanent eyeliner is the most sensitive treatment.

We work with a strong surgical anesthetic ointment so most people experience this treatment as simply uncomfortable, but usually not painful. Still, pain sensitivity is experienced differently by everyone. We generally hear "I expected worse " ☺

How long does the semi permanent eyeliner last?

On average our eyeliners last 3 to 5 years, the liner will lose more and more intensity as it ages. Best to have it reapplied every 4 years to keep your color of beautiful intensity.

How long does the Semi permanent eyeliner treatment take?

Placing the eyeliner itself goes pretty smoothly because we really specialize in this, and really only offer dermatopigmentation or semi permanent makeup treatments. Expect the placement itself to take about 15 min per eye. You yourself will be in the practice for about 1.5 hours because we take the time to discuss and draw everything out first. After the treatment you will also enter the relaxation room where you will get a coldpack on your eyes and all aftercare will be clearly explained to you.

Can I keep my lenses in during treatment?

Soft lenses may be retained during your treatment for permanent eyeliner.

Hard reads should be removed just before treatment, but may be reinserted immediately after treatment.

Will I have a lot of swelling after the treatment and how long will the swelling last?

Immediately after the placement of the permanent eyeliner, you will have minimal swelling of the liner itself and your eyelids will look a little red. This will be gone by evening or the day after. You can compare the swelling to as if you have had a good cry.

Can I wear false eyelashes during my permanent eyeliner treatment? 

No, please make sure you are not wearing false eyelashes when you come for your permanent eyeliner treatment.

How long should I wait before having new false eyelashes placed after my treatment?

Only 4 to 6 weeks after your treatment may you back false lashes (if you do not need a touch-up, otherwise wait another 4 to 6 weeks after your touch-up)

How long should I not wear makeup on the eyes after my treatment?

7 days of no makeup on the eyes, especially no mascara!

How long should I not swim or sunbathe after permanent eyeliner treatment?

You should definitely not swim (unless with your head above water) or sunbathe for the first week. You may shower, but be careful not to get the eyeliner too wet.

Also keep in mind that swimming (underwater) and sunbathing will cause your color to fade faster in the future.

Why do you see some people with gray/blue eyeliners?

In the past, tattoo inks were often used. This was especially so in the 1990s, when with the famous "black-stripe eyebrows" and blue/gray eyeliners, without a nice model. People then spoke of true permanent make up, with the goal of replacing makeup and preferably lasting as long as possible. Fortunately, then, those days are totally soooooo passé!

Now we talk about dermatopigmentation or semi permanent makeup with the goal of giving you more radiance without the too much effect and especially not forever.

By using the right technique and pure pigments especially for eyes, our eyeliners are beautiful in color. Please note that once the intensity of the color begins to diminish after a few years, the eyeliner will also lighten, losing its beautiful full black color.

How does aftercare work?

The first week after the treatment you may not swim, sunbathe, wear makeup at the treatment site e.g.: no mascara or eye shadow with eyeliner

You should wipe the treatment site with a damp cotton ball several times during the first few days and apply ointment afterwards.
